Q & A
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO TAKE OUT-OF-TOWN VISITORS?
In 2017, I designed a restaurant called Otium. It was, in the end, my love letter to Los Angeles, and it is still my favorite place to take visitors. You can make a day of it when you visit the Broad Museum, which is next door.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR DREAM PROJECT OR CLIENT.
I find my best inspiration comes from traveling, which I do every chance I get. My dream project would be to design an airport lounge. I spend a lot of time in them, and they could be so much better!
WHAT DOES BEING LIBERATED MEAN TO YOU?
In my role of Creative Director for my design studios, a bottomless well of creativity is necessary. But it's often hard to replenish that with the chaos of life and the world in general. Being liberated to me is when all feels settled around me so that Im allowed to find the space to tap into my creativity. Then great things tend to happen - whether it is a client design, a great meal to cook for my family or a visit to an art museum.
