COMPANY

FLORALOOM, OWNER + DESIGNER

A design studio specializing in customized, flower-focused experiential event design, activation installations, arrangements, and workshops.

MEET COLLEEN

I began in theater, TV, and film in NY and Los Angeles working in costumes and production design alongside top creatives for HBO, Warner Brothers, Fox Studios, and Mattel. From there, I took a break from the entertainment industry to follow my passion for entrepreneurship, marketing and design and launched a workwear collection in 2017. To fund my patterns and fabric, I began gigging as a floral designer in LA assisting on projects for clients such as Netflix, Roxy, WeWork, and Create & Cultivate.

Weaving my various design experiences together in fashion, styling, florals, and events, I started Floraloom Studio to focus on story-driven event experiences with a hand-crafted touch.

Q & A

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOURSELF?

My dance moves : ) I LOVE every kind of dance -- salsa, bachata, lindy hop, blues

WHAT’S YOUR DREAM PROJECT/CLIENT?

To do a "wow" floral installation for an event with Google or Hedley and Bennet in all primary colors OR do florals/set design for a wild/fantastic TV/film project that is director by Tim Burton or Wes Anderson

WHAT DOES BEING LIBERATED MEAN TO YOU?

Not hustling every second to survive!
But really, being financial stable and growing as a company that I I can choose the projects that give me joy and to be in a position to support young designers and help them grow their ideas -- either with my resources or connecting them with resources.

FAVORITE QUOTE

Oh, it’s delightful to have ambitions. I’m so glad I have such a lot. And there never seems to be any end to them — that’s the best of it. Just as soon as you attain to one ambition you see another one glittering higher up still. It does make life so interesting.
