HollyBeth Anderson had a career in international business that took her all over the globe – from Spain to Mexico to France (where she earned a degree from La Sorbonne and worked for the French government), before landing in South America as a Director of Business Development for Cartier. Her travels fueled her lifelong obsession with skincare, and gave her unique opportunities to soak up knowledge of everything from essential oils in France to the curative powers of herbs in Latin America. After years of dreaming up formulas and putting them through extensive R+D, she officially founded HollyBeth Organics in 2008. Inspired by the medicinal properties of the plants in her own Georgia backyard, she formulates, hand-blends, and packages all products out of her Atlanta studio. As the first and only certified organic skincare company in Georgia, the line represents a luxury-meets-organic philosophy and is formulated with results-oriented plants and essential oils that are suitable for use by all.

The three words that best describe me are… Dedicated, responsible, vivacious.

How did your former career prepare you for running your own business? Previously, I was assisting companies in expanding their operations globally. This has helped in the startup and operation of my business and will eventually help with expanding HollyBeth Organics overseas.

What was the biggest obstacle that you had to overcome before launching your business? The fear of failure!

How long were you in business before you started to see real growth? What do you attribute that to? I started the business in 2008 and really saw it take off two years later when we were featured in Southern Living.

How did you fund your dream? With the support of family and friends.

Describe a day in your life. How do you organize your day to best optimize your time? Are there any organizational tools you can’t live without? I am most productive in the morning, so I try to check my social media accounts and reply to emails first thing after running and playing with my two lab rescues. I then rely on my team to keep me on track throughout the rest of the day – they’re great at sending me reminders! I also keep a running list of things that need to get done to ensure nothing slips through the cracks. My favorite organizational tools are QuickBooks and my iPhone.

Lately I’m inspired by… My two dogs, Callie and Beau, both lab rescues! And the calming power of lavender, which can be found in our new Lavender Mist!

If I weren’t doing what I do, I would be… Still working in global business development or starting a foundation for children.

A teacher or boss who influenced me is… I once had a boss who told me I should start my own business. In an unfortunate series of events, my department was eliminated from the company. It turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me, because I was able to focus on HollyBeth Organics full time.

Five years from now I see myself and my company… Continuing to grow with the introduction of exciting new products and lines!
