BIO:

Twofold Co-Founder and Design Director Jenn Pablo values aesthetics above almost all else, so it’s only natural that most of her time is spent making things beautiful. A singer since the age of two, her childhood pursuits of art and music both gave her an outlet for her creative passions and instilled discipline from a young age. Her Southern California upbringing provided her first exposure to interior design, architecture and the visual arts, and when she headed to London at 21 to explore and get lost, she found herself completely inspired to create in the process. She came back to Los Angeles and had stints with two boutique design firms before starting Twofold with her partner, Olivia Korenberg. The partnership has taught her to appreciate collaboration and inspires her to push her own creative limits. Twofold is a one-stop, client-centered design firm offering both interior design work and lifestyle services such as event planning and personal styling.

Q+A:

What are three words that best describe you? Focused, hardworking and generous (to a fault!)

I funded my dream by… Working hard and building up (and using!) my savings.

What was the biggest obstacle to launching your business or venture?  Timing! I don’t think anyone is ever truly sure they are ready to jump ship when there is the security of a steady paycheck. It’s important to maintain composure and have complete confidence in yourself through all the ups and downs, ebbs and flows. Having patience is also an important quality to learn to hone as a small business owner.  Things have a way of working themselves out and it is both fascinating and exciting to experience.

What piece of invaluable advice did you receive that you would like to pass on to women pursuing their dream?  Be relentless and hustle. I don’t know whether someone specifically gave me that advice, but it has truly become my mantra.

My biggest challenge is… Trying to have foresight about the ever-changing landscape of interior design. I am constantly challenged by the fact that technology is facilitating a faster turnover of what is relevant to design and trends. Anything and everything unique is only extraordinary for a shorter period of time before it becomes ordinary. The market gets saturated with new ideas and designs faster than ever before. How do you keep ahead of that?

The best people to work with always… Are reliable and share the same intrinsic drive, desire and passion to put in hard work. I appreciate people who can solve problems creatively and independently.

LET’S GET PERSONAL:

When you go on vacation you always… Get lost. I find pleasure in discovering a new place.

My favorite time of the day is… Late night / early morning. I find that this time of day allows my mind to wander and gets me into a more active creative flow that is both meditative and uninterrupted. Late-night hours allow me to drown heavily in my own ideas.

Right now, I can’t get enough… Editorial photography and styling. I can spend hours going down the rabbit hole exploring images and concepts.

My favorite food is… Fine cheeses!

My favorite scent is… Anything Vanilla or Coconut.

A woman who inspires me is… Diane von Fürstenberg – As an artist, designer, and philanthropist.

I wish someone would have told me… How much sleep I would be losing.

If I weren’t doing what I do, I would be… A singer/musician.

The key to balancing it all is… To execute one thing at a time.
